#2: Warmer Water

Updated: Jun 13, 2022

Just like us humans who experience drought and bad harvests due to warmer weather, our marine friends are also facing the same situation. With oceans absorbing around 90% of the heat in our atmosphere, it is undeniable that this has brought quite a lot of troubles to the lives of sea creatures. One particular victim who cannot endure the devastating impact of warmer water is once again, corals - an animal facing spiking death rates in the past few decades. According to Secore, over 50 percent of the world's coral reefs have died in the last 30 years and up to 90 percent may die within the next century. Not only that, warmer water also leads to an enormous change in migration patterns and breeding grounds which directly disrupts the food chain of sea animals.
